Mossy Edge

April 11th, 2010

60 Degrees out! What a great day to get out and explore! Using the light from the center of the trees, I was able to grab the silihouetes of the moss hanging. In Lord Hill Park this seems to be the only area where the trees are blanketed from head to toe in soft hanging moss. If you look closer you can see a spider has also staked its claim to its territory in the upper left center of this picture.

Storybook Canopy

October 25th, 2009

Today features a guest contributor.

I walked through the garden as a child does in a storybook. The kind of story that involves fantastical, twisty trees that shelter from the cold, crisp, autumn air. And scattered leaves that catch fire from drops of light that fall carelessly from the sky. Had the garden allowed, I would have sat myself under this tree, opened the pages of a similar story, and read it through the morning; But alas, it was forbidden. So I take with me this picture of my storybook canopy and remember the imagination of my childhood'

Up Up and Away

March 31st, 2009

With all the rain we get throughout the year here in western Washington, its no wonder everything is so green. Here in the deep forests of eastern King County the rich and thick moss envelops everything from the ground to the sky.

Puddle Full of Sunshine

March 13th, 2009

It seems to never fail, whenever there is a Friday the 13th, there are the crazy people to go along with it. I hope your week has been productive and you have been able to enjoy a little sunshine ( if you are in the northwest region) and you are able to take a little time for yourself this weekend.

Skyward

February 22nd, 2009

Sometimes its important to take an awareness of yuor surroundings. It is always refreshing to just look around and realize all the majesty which surrounds us in our everyday lives. This is just a quick snapshot looking up through the trees towards the sun, an everyday activity.

A Foggy Encounter

November 28th, 2008

On a foggy day I was able to snap this in a jiffy. The trees seem to stretch with an eerie skinniness to the top of the frame, lined with only their bare branches, barely making in through a frozen winter. As quickly as they appear, they vanish. Gazing to the left the fog envelopes the trees as there ceases to be trees, only fog. I was able to snap this on the Moutains to the Sea Cascade Highway. If you ever get a chance to take the scenic drive and take it slow, you can be offered some very stunning arrays of mountainous terrain and sweeping landscapes.

In the Blink of an Eye

July 8th, 2008
In the blink of an eye!
That is all it takes, the world could end, you could fall in love, hit the game winning shot, lose your job, discover you had a long lost brother.

It seems as time goes on the need for speed and instant gratification can overwhelm us, however, if we take that one blink of an eye to take a breath, or smile, or give the one we love a kiss, now that blink of an eye is timeless.
