There's No Place like Home

April 12th, 2010

If you have lived in the northwest, or anyplace in the United States of America, it is almost impossible to not know what the game of baseball is. As a child, a ballpark is your palace, it is the king's house, a place where all dreams can come true, where you see yourself leaping the wall to make a game winning catch or hitting the game winning home run over the left field wall. I have visited several ball parks over the years, but there is no place like Safeco Field.

From the moment you drive by on I-5 you can smell the unique aroma of garlic fries and Pyramid Ale. It is a stadium which is unique in its own right; unlike many other stadiums throughout professional sports, there is a not a bad seat in the house, every chair has an unbelievable site line.(Including these ones from the concourse just above the visiting bullpen in left field.)

It is that time of year when every thing is right with the world. When young and old can come and gather in a collective harmony to cheer on the boys in blue and white. It is baseball time in the northwest. Go Mariners!

There is nothing like that late inning come from behind win, everyone cheers, the rally caps are in full force, from ages 9 to 90 everyone is standing, hearing the crack of the bat.

A Mariners game is not only about the game played between the lines. It is about the experience, the smell of the peanuts, hot dogs, of the fresh cut grass, the game within the game, who is pitching today, is the roof open or closed.

Walking into the gates of Left Field with 10,000 of your closest friends.

Chipmunk Mountain

September 22nd, 2009

As fall arrives today, you would never guess it! Even those creatures who are supposed to be feverishly preparing for winter are enjoying the sunshine! Including this chipmunk on Mt. Rainer.

Puddle Full of Sunshine

March 13th, 2009

It seems to never fail, whenever there is a Friday the 13th, there are the crazy people to go along with it. I hope your week has been productive and you have been able to enjoy a little sunshine ( if you are in the northwest region) and you are able to take a little time for yourself this weekend.

Secret Garden

February 18th, 2009

In the midst of growth and urban sprawl, there is peace to be found between the hallowed steel buildings. This is one of those many hard to find places, which are very WORTH finding.

Troubled Times

February 3rd, 2009
I write with a heavy heart after being out and about today. It seems no place is immune to the downturn of the economy, including the Seattle waterfront. I wish somehow, those who have everything could walk next to someone who has nothing, and then listen to the justification of $13billion in taxpayed bonuses. Even as Seattle's homeless rate rises, the call for help to puppy mills is so loud. However, I posed this question to my girlfriend the other day, In times so hard, when does an animal life become worth more then a human life? As people are volunteering by the hundreds to adopt abused puppies, who takes in people?.... people like this gentleman who had nothing but the clothes on his back and a torn and crusted novel to keep him company.
