The economic downturn has a had a very visible effect in downtown Seattle. As I visited the hallowed halls of one of the cities most poignant and celebrated venues, it was all to evident that times are tough here as well. As you may trace the market with your footsteps you will notice a very graphic downturn in foot-traffic as well as vendors, there just isn't the money there once was to support it. So if you get a chance, talk a walk down memory lane or create a new one, at our once and hopefully always thriving, Pikes Place Market.
Of course this photo was taken at 9:10 am, and since that's 20 minutes before roll call so naturally the tables will be empty. Yes, business at the market is down significantly, but traffic is still good afternoons and weekends. And there is still business being done. Thanks for the thought and suggestion that people patronize the Pike Place Market, though :)
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean there are not as many fish being thrown around by those entertaining guys there. Always a highlight for us visitors from canada.
