An Evening With Seattle

April 28th 2010

She calls to you, becons in the night, a silent temptress of unimaginable beauty. From the hillsides to the waterfront, to the downtown enclaves, Seattle calls at every hour. She is a city who puts beauty on notice, and one which is hard to duplicate. There are hundreds and thousands of cities throughout the world, yet she is unique in so many ways. Her eloquent skyline, and rapturous mountain can evoke the deepest of yearnings. She is simply... home.]

Now that..... That is a Sunset

February 22nd, 2009

Now although it is mid February, one might be tempted to think its mid May and summer is nearly upon us. Yesterday I was able to capture this shot on the shore at Edmonds. We could all use a little reflection time, and there is nothing like a magnificent sunset behind the Olympics to inspire our souls.

Race To Tiger Mountain

April 6th, 2009

What a gorgeous weekend! As you can see I have not posted for the last two days due to the lack of being inside and having time to sit around at the computer. We spent Sunday hiking for a good 6 hours and managed to make the peak of Tiger Mountain through 3-6 feet of snow from 2000 feet on up! What a view and well worth the Sunburn and numbing toes.

Congratulations to E4H(Engineer for Hire) for winning the 100th posting competition!

Foggy Abyss

April 3rd, 2009

A day after snow, and there was still snow. Well that is supposed to clear up this weekend with temps in the 60's!!! So today I draw on a picture taken a month and a half ago out on Lake Washington. The fog rolled in that day and it created a great portrait of the anti-summer camp dock.Enjoy!

Don't forget today is that last day to link back to my site as the winner will be announced tomorrow!!

Walking Bridge

February 6th, 2009
Bridges are a natural framework for pictures it seams. I am no exception. This bridge takes you into the Washington Park Arboretum, and has become one of my new favorite places to visit. On this morning the fog was heavy, but lifted for a moment of clarity as I was able to quickly snap this picture.

Lone Fighter

January 27th, 2009

On a day which allowed me to view more birds in one particular park then I ever had the privilage of seeing before, there stood a lone American-Robin, who was by no means camera shy. He kept fluttering for attention and hoping around toward me as I turned away. If you look closely you can see him almost smiling.

Two Enjoy the View

January 25th, 2009

As I stepped up to the shore, this lone seagull evoked no fear and was determined to enjoy a slight break in the clouds and fog to enjoy the somewhat hazy view of an otherwise clear Seattle. Although this picture was not taken from Alkai Beach it was close enough to warrant a diversion in the day.

The Color Steps

January 10th, 2009

What color are your steps? I found these colorful renditions on the entryway to a local community garden in Belltown. There is no sign saying how long they have been here, so the age on these is unknown. I am looking forward to making a return visit in the spring time as the florals come into bloom.

The Gorge at George

December 4th, 2008

Being a frequent traveler across the state, I pass this view often. However, it is not always this captivating with the deep riveting hue of blue in the water. The color stood out crossing the Gorge, on this morning in particular, because of the cold crispness in the air (2 deg f).

A Montana Moon

February 12th, 2008

Being in the country, one can be presented with the stunning landscapes and shots which cannot just happen anywhere else. While I was driving home from teaching in Ekalaka, MT I was able to stop and admire just that.
