The Other Side of the Water

February 13th, 2009

Wonderful Husky Stadium. It can be somewhat picturesque at times, even though it is not on of the nicer facilities in college football. From across the Lake Washington, one can almost hear the sound of autumn crowds bellowing out of this Northwest lair.

New Addition

February 12th, 2009

I had to take a day off due to the new addition to our family. We are now the proud owners of a gorgeous Chocolate Lab Drahthaar mix. After a long 5 1/2 hour drive to the other side of the state to pick her up, and the 5 1/2 hour drive with her in the car she is starting to warm up to life on the westside at a mere 10 weeks old.

Drain Crawler

February 8th, 2009

Belltown, in Seattle, can offer a photographer a smorgasbord of subjects to feast the lens on. Today, was no different, as I walked about as my girlfriend was getting her hair cut, I stumbled upon this interesting idea of a drain pipe crawling up the side of an apartment building.

Need A Boat?

February 7th, 2009
What a beautiful end to the week. This is quickly growing on my list of favorite pictures. After what seemed to be the week all hell broke loose, it is nice to end on a vision of serenity!

Framed

February 5th, 2009

I was unable to get out and about today so thought I would use a picture I took the other weekend up at the falls. Its wonderful when you can take a naturally framed shot and don't have to tell someone not to move until you get the right picture.

Troubled Times

February 3rd, 2009
I write with a heavy heart after being out and about today. It seems no place is immune to the downturn of the economy, including the Seattle waterfront. I wish somehow, those who have everything could walk next to someone who has nothing, and then listen to the justification of $13billion in taxpayed bonuses. Even as Seattle's homeless rate rises, the call for help to puppy mills is so loud. However, I posed this question to my girlfriend the other day, In times so hard, when does an animal life become worth more then a human life? As people are volunteering by the hundreds to adopt abused puppies, who takes in people?.... people like this gentleman who had nothing but the clothes on his back and a torn and crusted novel to keep him company.

Walking

February 2nd, 2009
Walking into the light, is something we all dream about, well, maybe not necessarily dream about, but possibly fear. However, this walker is not concerned with walking into the light at the end of this tunnel.

Vespa in Seattle

February 1st, 2009
Wonderful Pike's Place Market, shows off its true colors when the sun comes out. A local coffee shop visitor, allowed me to photography his Vespa, as he talked on the phone before he headed out.

Up Up and.... Gone?

January 30th, 2009

The Columbia Tower seems to disappear in the morning fog, which miraculously burned off as the day wore on.

Blue Lagoon?

January 30th, 2009
It seems as if this Blue Heron knew the shutter was about to close on him, as he quickly turned right before this picture, offering himself in a complete silhouette against a backdrop of the Olympic Mountains.

Wanted: Warm Chaps

January 29th, 2009
A bench is something which is always calling, if not to you, then to someone, wanting someone to sit, think, ponder, observe, watch, listen, talk.... see everything which it sees daily. Well, I must admit this bench has a great view. Although it is the dead of winter and the tree ahead looks rather dapper, the thought of an early spring bloom keeps this bench on its, hinges.

Calming Effect

January 28th, 2009
After a trying beginning to the week I just needed a picture which had a calming effect. Looking for something to look towards a brighter future. In this picture, literally a brighter future. Enjoy!

Lone Fighter

January 27th, 2009

On a day which allowed me to view more birds in one particular park then I ever had the privilage of seeing before, there stood a lone American-Robin, who was by no means camera shy. He kept fluttering for attention and hoping around toward me as I turned away. If you look closely you can see him almost smiling.

A Fisherman's Dream

January 26th, 2009
I was able to get out and about with my girlfriend today and enjoyed myself quite thoroughly. If you have been reading the blog you might know this waterfall from a past post about the flooding in the Northwest along with the impressive roaring torrent at Snoqualmie Falls. On that day it was impossible to get down the lower portion of the falls and get a great view. However, today was a different story as I was treated a local fisherman of the falls. What looks like dust particles is actually snow in early the afternoon.

Two Enjoy the View

January 25th, 2009

As I stepped up to the shore, this lone seagull evoked no fear and was determined to enjoy a slight break in the clouds and fog to enjoy the somewhat hazy view of an otherwise clear Seattle. Although this picture was not taken from Alkai Beach it was close enough to warrant a diversion in the day.

Night Time Circus

Januray 24th, 2009

A Friday night in Seattle can be just as busy as a weekday morning. With all the stagnation which has occurred this week smog is still visible at night as you can see in the glow of the city.

A Side Note

January 23rd, 2009

Concluding the week, I happened upon this colorful rendition of our new president just off of Pike Street above I-5. Along with the vibrant colors on the banner, the building also jumps out as you as you walk by. It gives you a sense that it might LEAP out at you and say, "Hello There!!!". I am very much looking forward to some brighter days in the area! Hello weekend!

A Great Reprieve!

January 19th, 2009

On the eve of this historic day in our nations history, i thought it would be appropriate to share a picture from yesterday at Edmonds waterfront. After going in the morning and observing all the diver traffic headed out to several sites just off shore, I knew a return for an evening sunset was not an option. I have several pictures which I thoroughly enjoyed from last evening, this has to be close to the top. I encourage you to take a moment and think of how far we have come as a country, but even harder about how far we have to go....
